A pianist and cellist, Ann read music at Durham University before settling on a career in the law. She has worked as a property solicitor for most of the past thirty years, and is teased and admired in equal quantities by her friends for her eagerness and skill for organising all manner of events, large and small.

Her three children all played brass instruments, and thanks in no small part to the excellent teaching they received from Tom Rainer at their junior school, they were all awarded music awards on entry to secondary school.

She is married to Jim, who is tone deaf but invaluable in many non-musical aspects of our courses, in particular where spreadsheets and other computer or technical issues are concerned. Ann still has a keen interest in music, and sings in a choir and attends concerts regularly.
